If you don't see what you're looking for, get in touch — we're happy to help.
Does Gift Recorder provide tax advice?
No. Gift Recorder is a record-keeping tool. It does not give personalised tax, legal or investment advice, calculate a final inheritance-tax liability, or imply HMRC acceptance. For advice on your circumstances, speak to your professional adviser.
Who can see my records?
Only you, and the people or firms you actively grant read access to. You choose who — adviser, partner, or beneficiary — and you can change or revoke that access at any time.
What is the 7-year clock?
Many gifts are Potentially Exempt Transfers, which fall outside your estate once they've survived seven years. Gift Recorder shows where each of your gifts sits in that window so you can see the position at a glance.
Do I need to record every old gift straight away?
No. You can add gifts as you go and reach back as far as you need to. The record becomes more useful the more complete it is, but there's no need to finish on day one.
Can I export my records?
Yes. You can export a clear, dated gift schedule, aligned to the IHT403 layout, whenever it's needed for probate or your own records.
How do I sign up?
Gift Recorder is offered through professional advisers. You create an account and choose the adviser who introduced you, and you stay in control of access throughout. If your firm isn't listed yet, please ask them about Gift Recorder — or contact us and we'll get in touch with them.
